Canvey Island Independent Party Your Island! Your Party!

John Anderson - Canvey Island Mayor

Dear residents, my first engagement as Mayor was the Town Councils Wild Life Day event at Canvey West marshes, working in partnership with the RSPB.

The weather was good, lots of people turned out and enjoyed the day.

My next engagement was the Armed Forces Day, where bands marched through the town centre, with various youth groups, The Royal British Legion, and other dignitaries.

This event was to celebrate the magnificent work that the Armed Forces carry out to protect us and put themselves forward for our country.

Being Town Mayor for Canvey Island was never in my thoughts when I moved down here from Scotland,39 years ago, but here I am.

The purpose of being Mayor is to represent Canvey Island, to let people know all about the various areas to see and visit on the Island. Also to be an ambassador to let other Councils and Towns know about our attractions and friendly people.

Yours truly, Canvey Island Town Council Mayor, Cllr John Anderson

Convincing WIN at County Elections

Hello Residents

I hope you all had a great Christmas and your preparations for the new year are underway, Christmas is always a very busy time for us all and it’s hard to keep up to date with what is going and comments made.

So here I am to bring you all up to date as to what we are doing, what we are trying to do, and hopefully this will reassure you that we your councillors are not sitting on our backsides doing nothing.

There have been lots of comments on FB and other media sites about the loss of our first responder, this worries me as I can speak from personal experience that in October 2016 I needed to call for help due to my loved one being poorly, if the responder hadn’t had acted quickly we would have lost our loved one, it is thanks to there fast actions that he is here today.

So yes the thought of losing our first responder grieves me, Dave has arranged to take this to scrutiny in hope we can reverse the decision to remove them.

I was saddened to read MP Rebecca Harris comments on being in agreement of the decision to move them from the Island up to Benfleet, now I know that if the responder had to travel to us in that October it would have been to late and I thank there dedicated work and professionalism in saving our loved ones life that day.

Perhaps Mrs Harris has never been in that same position and to be honest I would never wish the very upsetting and stressful experience on anyone but hope she can reconsider her comments as I’m sure there are many residents on Canvey who can relate to what I am saying and like myself and family who are indebted to our first responders, I would like to think that Mrs Harris would be more empathetic and understand the concerns of us islanders.

We will strive to do everything to have the decision to remove our responder reversed and hope that this reassure’s you all that we are doing everything we can to save our responder on the Island.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my comments I wish you all a very happy, healthy, lucky 2018

Very best regards

Grace
