Canvey Island North

Borough Councillors

Nick Harvey

Dear Residents

I have lived on Canvey Island for the past 17 years and had the chance to meet many of you and assist you with various issues that you have raised. I would like to take this opportunity to say “Hello” to the new residence of North Ward and let me know if I can help you in any way I can. I have been a Town Councillor since the inception of the Town Council in 2007.

I was the Chairman of the Council for a year and have chaired the Policy and Finance Committee and even though we are a consultative committee we let the Borough Council know our views on the planning issues that are brought before us. I have seen the Town Council grow into something that has been able to take on more and more responsibility for our Island and greatly improve the area and I hope benefits you all.

I can be contacted via the Town Council Office. You only need to ask the wonderful staff there for my mobile number or email. I will not let you down.

Thank you

John Payne

Dear Residents,

I first had the privilege of serving as a Borough Councillor in 2010 residing in East Ward where I was involved in many projects and dealt with issues that residents informed me about but sadly after my 4-year term I could not re-stand due to new work commitments not enabling me to be an elected member of the council.

Two years later in 2016 I returned and was proud to be elected to serve in North Ward where I am today continuing my passion to help and assist you with your issues and needs within the community.

Having been born in North Ward, Eldertree Road, in fact, I am saddened to see our Island eroding away with far too much resemblance to a concrete jungle. I, too, sit in the same traffic as many of you do every day trying to get to and from our places of work. I understand totally the frustrations and am fully in agreement that our Island has had enough housing development. Our infrastructure including roads, police, drainage, schools, GP services etc are all at breaking point and we cannot just simply keep accepting it.

Despite this I wouldn’t live anywhere else because it’s you, the people within our community that make our Island special.

Kind regards

John Payne

Michael Fuller

Dear Resident,

I am 69 years old and have Iived on Canvey Island for the past 34 years. I am a retired I.T. Development manager and one time Materials Scientist. I joined the Canvey Island Independent party at it's formation. During the last few years I, like any other Canvey island residents, have become increasingly angered and frustrated by the complete disregard of the Islander's wishes and ambitions for Canvey island by the ruling Conservative group on the Castle Point Borough Council.

I  will devote my efforts to support the wishes of not only those who support the Canvey Island Independent Party but all the residents who feel that there must be more local control of policies that affect the Island, it's residents and it's businesses.

Michael Fuller.

Town Councillors

Doreen Anderson

Dear Residents,

I have lived and worked, although I am now retired on the island since 1982 and became a town councillor in May 2007. I am involved in lots of ongoing projects: - Decorating the Town Centre, hanging baskets and flower tubs, the organisation of the wildlife day at the Canvey West Marshes and Armed Forces day. The Garden Trail and the Christmas event, which all get more and more popular every year. I wish to carry on making the environment on Canvey Island better and better.

Do you have any ideas that you would like to see that would improve your community? Let me know and I will take them forward. I will always speak up for Canvey Island residents.
